ANSWER! Is there a PayPal Checkout Button Discount Code?

I am creating store buttons with the PayPal Merchant Services feature. With this you place a button on your site that takes you to a secure payment page through PayPal. I was wondering if it is possible to get a discount code feature applied to the button. I do not want to give discounts to everyone just the people who enter this specific code. When creating a button there is a spot to enter code for Advanced Variables. I imagine this is where you would enter the code. Please let me know, thanks!
Louis,
Where would you create the code at and the amount it takes off? I am looking to use it on a special occasion. For example I would give someone a code to use that day then take it away so I don’t think hacking would be a problem. Could you give me the code to try?
Thanks alot

To achieve what you want you would need to muck about with the PayPal API, but there’s an easier way.

Instead of using a discount code, you can use a special page, which is identical to the normal page, (or different if you like), but has a button with the discounted price on it, instead of the normal one. Send your favored customers to this special page.

When your offer has expired, you just take down the extra page, or replace it with a page saying the offer expired and with a link to your normal page

How to avoid fees when requesting money from someone on Paypal?

The Paypal user agreement says that if you send or receive money exclusively using Paypal balance or bank account, then it’s free. How about requesting money from someone? I was on the page for requesting money, and there are only 2 options to choose from when I was asked for the purpose of the request: goods or service. And it appears that both charge a fee. I do have a personal account (not premier or merchant account).

You have to have the pay with a money order or personal check

Can I start an online business at age 17?

With my mom as the cosigner so that I would pay all the income tax but she could be my legal co-signer for licenses and bank accounts?

I have a specific business plan and I know HTML, how to make professional sites, hosting, merchant services, PayPal, and domains.

The place you might have a problem is Paypal. You need to be 18 to have your OWN account there. But if she is willing to set up the Paypal account and allow you to use it (or give you a ’student account’ there, which you should check out), you can probably make it happen. Just be sure that she knows the ultimate responsibility is HERS until you turn 18 (at least in the US). This is because only adults can make legally binding contracts - and that is what sales are, binding contracts.

what does somthing think about this

You’ve been scammed. That email is not from Paypal, it’s called a Spoof, forward to spoof@paypal.com and do not send your computer for any reason. This is a very common Nigerian scam
If you go to Paypal.com and login and theres no money, it was never sent. Besides, Paypal does not allow any accounts from Nigeria due to high levels of fraud, so there is no way any Paypal email would ask you to ship to a Nigerian address. And Paypal would never ask for a tracking or shipment number, that’s not how Paypal works
Do not respond to this person or believe their threats, you’ll next receive spoof FBI or police emails threatening you into sending the computer, don’t believe them. These scams all follow the same script
The scam is explained in detail here
http://consumerist.com/2008/10/how-a-nigerian-steals-your-laptop.html
http://giwayne.com/sca/

Report this to Paypal and also the FBI internet crime partnership http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
but dont respond to this buyer or any other emails regarding this scam. They will eventually stop contacting you once they know you are not playing along. If you don’t answer, they will go away after a few emails. If you respond, then you’ll never get rid of them

Question about Paypal: is this really gonna work?

I’m selling my phone on craigslist. The person doesn’t live where I do so I declined his check and said only paypal. I have a paypal because I’m planning on buying a new phone on ebay.

Anyways, he asked for my PP ID. I yahoo answered if that was a good idea, and from all the answers just decided to do the thing where you ask for money through his email.

He put the money in my paypal and I got a email, but I’m not sure if this is what everyone else gets because I kind of don’t like the sound of it. Is this real ?

The money is already in my account. So if I don’t like this idea, what do I have to do to get him to take the money out? Or now that he gave me the money, is it mine?

the money is not in your account - that email is NOT from Paypal. Paypal would NEVER ask for a tracking/shipment reference number. Your account is credited the minute the person puts through the payment. If you go to Paypal.com and log into your account and there is no money there, it was never sent.

Plus, why would you write to @americanmail.com for anything to do with Paypal

Forward this to spoof@paypal.com and do not have any further correspondence with this buyer. There is no money, they are sending you fake emails to get you to send the item without them paying for it

DO NOT send the item for any reason

Best Selling/Merchant Service (Paypal, 2Checkout …)?

This question in brief is basically about: ‘What is the fastest/easiest/best way to offer payments on a website?’

Okay I own a small business and want to start selling a few things online. Anyway regardless, I want to sell to people who are primarily using credit cards and I want it to be quick and simple for them.

Now I’ve been reading for a little over 7 hours straight now and I think my eyes are about to bleed. One too many PayPal vs. 2Checkout vs. Worldpay vs. Moneybookers(?) vs. Auth..net(?) etc. forums/debates. Anyway I’m as confused as when I started.

I’ll offer paypal for sure but a lot of people see it and think "well I don’t have a paypal account so I can’t use it." Anyway what is the fastest/easiest/best way to offer payments on a website? (In your experience?) Or opening your own merchant account or something? I don’t even know how to do that but yeah any comments would really help a lot.

I would still say Paypal as it’s the safest.

There is a great ebook about the best selling/merchant service.

Good luck!

What is the best way to accept online payments in Dubai?

For an e-commerce site targeted at consumers living in Dubai, what is the best option for online payments?

Who are the leading merchant account providers and payment gateway services operating in the UAE and what currency are citizens most comfortable in using to pay online in? Do most residents hold credit cards or do they prefer to pay using bank transfers or PayPal like services?

Are there any governmental regulations I should be aware of?

First of all, the UAE has only a few merchant account providers and we use the usual online Payment Gateway Services, mostly Paypal. Some people resort to Liberty Reserve, C-Gold, Moneybookers etc. but mainly we go with Online Credit Card Payments. In my personal opinion, we prefer to pay via Credit Cards as bank transfers can take 3-5 business days, sometimes longer. Credit Cards are widely available and can easily be found in any banks, they even sell prepaid VISA cards that can be used online too.

Simply answering your first question; Paypal. It’s simple, fast and easy to use. + They can spend up to $500 without having to go through the verification process.

Secondly, usually Mashreqbank is the main merchant provider for online transactions, as seen on websites such as Etisalat.ae, CinestarCinemas.com, BoxOfficeMe.com as well as other websites. However, Paypal is increasingly being used in the Emirates.

Thirdly, most residents hold both credit cards and bank accounts, but prefer using credit cards as long as online transactions are safe and secure, being SSL secured and the payment gateway being somewhat well-known. There are a lot of scams going around, so I doubt anyone would go with "X Merchant" or "Z Merchant" and they might trust Paypal a bit more (personally, I dislike Paypal, but it’s easy and fast).

Lastly, I don’t believe the UAE government cares about international online transactions as long as they are straight forward and not fraudulent. Fraud causes are usually highly important in the Emirates as Dubai being a major fraud city in the Emirates, dealing with fraud cheques, credit cards etc. and increasingly on the rise. So in a short answer; no. There are no regulations.

Personal Advice: Ensure your website is SSL secured and that the nice seal is shown everywhere on the site to comfort residents, provide a phone number for support and assistance, and offer some form of money back to comfort citizens too.

Good luck!

Anyone know of any good merchant services providers for an ecommerce business?

I am in the process of starting up an online business and I need a good merchant services provider. I have looked into paypal and google checkout…they have some restrictions on certain products and are a bit pricey. I want that is reasonably priced, with not too many hidden fees and restrictions….let me know if there is anything better

Costco Merchant Services

does using paypal as a non-member expose my debit card info to merchant?

I am not a paypal member and made a purchase using the paypal service, am i still protected?
poohpooh - im sorry but you are wrong, you can buy items with paypal WITHOUT having a paypal account if the seller checks that option.

Some debit cards offer buyer protection, others do not. Check the terms of your account. And as answered before, yes, your debit card numbers are needed to process the transaction.

I don’t know what you mean as far as not being a member of PayPal yet using PayPal. You can’t use PayPal unless you have a PayPal account. If the merchant accepts PayPal and you used a different payment method, then your liabilities are limited to your card’s terms. My debit card offers all of the protections of a credit card, however not all debit cards offer this.

IS IT NECESSARY TO HAVE MERCHANT ACCOUNT IN PAYPAL TO RECEIVE DONATION?

Paypal will allow donations for personal account or for only merchant account?…they told me that i should not raise funds with my paypal personal account…But while signing in for personal account, merchant services option is there..From there only i got a donate button to raise funds…Using that button in my blog,i raised funds……But everything went in vain…bcz they put my account in limited access…Can anyone please tell me a solution for this…

why would anyone just send you "donations" if you are not a recognized, registered non-profit charity?
